This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a Special Education teacher in New York City. Most of my students are diagnosed with severe Autism and are in the most restrictive learning environment. My students also require health and behavioral para professionals who assist my students in basic human functions like feeding and diapering in addition to being a huge influence in their learning program.
When providing rigorous curriculum, despite their disabilities, each and everyone of my students rises to the challenge and exceeds not only my expectations, but also their own.
My students are passionate about Spongebob Squarepants, music and dancing, snack foods, and play time in the playground!
My Project
My students will utilize these supplies to keep them motivated in their learning environment as they build their language and communication skills, which is essential in their learning.
Since most of my students are non-verbal, it is my responsibility to work everyday to help them in building a communication system that they can utilize in and out of the classroom with the people around them.
Both the toys and technology items will help expose them to their surrounding environment. The snack items will be used as rewards when the students complete their educational tasks and activities. I sincerely appreciate your help in making this happen and know that my students will appreciate your help as well!
