The students in my classroom are Specific Learning Disabled and Emotionally Behaviorally Disturbed (ESE). The school they attend is located in a low-socio-economic area. Thus, the school is not sufficiently equipped with working up to date computers. The computers within the school run extremely slow or do not work at all. Two of the computers in my classroom were removed because they could no longer be upgraded they were so old. Also, one of the donated computers is no longer working! Only one of the students in my class has a computer in the home.So they fight to share previously donated computers.
My students desire to use technology in the classroom.

My Project
The use of computers in the classroom allows students to interact and compete locally and globally using the super information highway. Research shows that computers can assist in improving student interest and achievement. This is evidenced in several different ways. For example, motivation is increased when students use technology in the classroom. Also, students are able to prepare for the world outside the classroom. Finally, technology offers experiences that are limited with books.
According to research, "technology rich schools report higher attendance and lower dropout rates than in the past." Students are found to be challenged, engaged, and more independent when using technology.
Donations to this effort will improve my classroom by, increasing students' motivation, achievement, and preparation in order to compete and interact with the world and community. Lessons will be interesting , interactive and hands-on. The use of technology will assist students in creating interesting cohesive projects, performing engaging research, and independent learning.
