My students need an interactive projection camera to work with the Promethean Board in our classroom and magnetic manipulatives to use underneath the projection camera.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This school year, I have the pleasure of working with two groups of students; second graders and third graders. Each student having a significant disability; educational, physical, visual, emotional, behavioral and attention difficulties. They are so young and impressionable, so full of energy and so excited for a new school year to learn all that they can learn.
I want each of these students to have the manipulatives in their hands so a deeper connection to math can be made, with long lasting effects.
They love to have opportunities in the classroom and are so kind to one another.
My Project
As my eager students sit around the kidney table and use manipulatives, they find it very difficult to see what models I am making for them. I want to be able to project a model for the students to see with ease, while simultaneously working more hands on with the students. With the projector connected to the Promethean Board, my students will be able to see the projected manipulatives on the board and mimic what the teacher does while teaching. They will connect math problems in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with these magnetic manipulatives to real life situations. It will allow them a greater opportunity to use math hands on, while having a large model projected on screen, which in turn will allow the teacher more opportunity to assist the students who are struggling.
They will be able to use the projector to show their work in all subjects on the board and demonstrate how they have solved a problem with manipulatives.
I want all of my students to feel successful in my classroom, with plenty of opportunities for growth.
