This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education-Martin Luther King Jr.
My school is a title 1 FABAO school. Most of the students are EL learners with Spanish as their primary language.
I have taught fourth, fifth, and kindergarten over the past 11 years.
With technology growing so rapidly, I know there is a need to stay current with all today's technological advances. This tablet will allow me to increase my knowledge of technology and various applications for education.
My Project
My school uses DIBELS, which is an online assessment tool that measures early literacy skills. This ipad will help me analyze student data in different curricular areas such as language arts and math. It would help me identify students in need of intervention.I would provide professional development to teachers regarding the new common core state standards and the new English Language Development standards. I recently attended a two day common core workshop. The workshop was about implementing the new state standards. I plan to use this devise to find additional resources. I want to learn about various applications such as symbaloo, Engage New York, and The Teaching Channel. Symbaloo is a bookmarking application that provides many resources that I hope to learn from. Engage New York and The Teaching Channel are valuable resources for the implementation of the Common Core Standards. Their teaching videos on topics such as Close Reading and Text Dependent Questions will be instrumental.
