Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students are from low-income and high needs area in the Bronx. They are of diverse cultures and speak a variety of languages at home. A large problem with lower level learners is that they sometimes feel discouraged and give up easily. I want to give these students an opportunity to succeed and to feel good about learning.
Using technology and digit resources allows for students to expand their thinking as well as enjoy learning.
Many of my students do not have computers at home and school is their only opportunity to research, read, and interact with resources on the computer.
My Project
For this project, I have requested two laptops for classroom use. This will be a great start for students to be engaged with technology more often throughout the school day. We sometimes are able to get computers from the school and the class can use the Chromebook, but having our own classroom computers will be much easier for students and for myself. I, myself, use technology all the time during the school day. Whether its powerpoint, Class Dojo, IReady, Math games, videos to teach content, or BrainPOP, I try to use technology whenever possible.
Having easy access to technology will allow for more engaging and interactive activities in the classroom.
Many of the students in my class do not have Internet access in their homes and laptops in the class will be very helpful and lead to infinite possibilities for students. In today's society technology is of utmost importance and these computers will give more students more opportunities to learn and grow.
