This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My dance students have embraced dance as way to fuel their competitive drive and to also as a form of expression. I continue to look for opportunities to teach all aspects of dance and the profession itself. This includes competitions, photo sessions, video recording, portfolios and marketing. To do so, I make every attempt to engage them in projects involving science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). There is so much more to performing and competitions than just the dance piece itself. Music, music mix preparations and audition videos must be created, as well.

Your donation to our project will spur the innovation needed to infuse technology into all aspects of the profession of dance.

The items selected for this project are an Apple IPad and music system. The Apple IPad would be used for the recording of videos, editing, and photography. This item was selected as Apple products are note worthy for this task. A blue tooth sound system is also selected to play and test the the customized tracks for competitions and performances. This is a must as music must be customized in competition for specific timing and genres of music. Preparing for Fall competitions begins now. Further, printer's requested in this project will enable students to capture and print spontaneous moments when practicing and performing. In addition to digital portfolios, students will create and maintain physical portfolios as a marketing tool as they prepare for auditions and interviews for performing art schools. An added bonus, students will learn the skills that are aligned with industry and technical certification in entertainment technology while engaging in STEAM and a career skill pathway.
