This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students

I am one of six speech language pathologists in a urban elementary school. Many of my students have expressive language delays and are struggling readers and writers.
My school is located in a diverse community, and many students are English Language Learners.
I am lucky to work with students across the grades, K-5, in our speech room. In a school of over 2000 students, about 180 students have a speech-language disability. Despite the struggles the students face, they remain motivated and optimistic about school. By funding these 3 iPads, headphones and new books, students will improve their literacy skills and overall language abilities.
My Project
Many students learn best with technology. Technology allows for differentiation of materials and to meet the needs of kids with different learning styles. Many of my students are struggling readers and the use of technology allows for kids to listen to texts as well as read.

Technology is a powerful tool that can motivate and engage students. Most importantly, it can improve my kids literacy skills by appealing to their learning styles.
