Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a 5th grade teacher who services students with special needs. I believe that every child in my classroom, no matter their classification, is capable of achieving their highest academic, technological and life goals.

Many of my students receive speech services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and counseling.

My population benefits greatly from a multi-sensory classroom experience, which is stimulating and promotes and enjoyment of learning. I would like to provide them with this type of environment, however, I work in a Title I school that does not have the means to supply the technological tools that we require in my classroom and many of my students do not have computers or laptops in the home.

My Project

There are so many ways these laptops can help my students: 1. My students will type papers, proposals and create presentations on topics they have researched. 2. My students will use the internet to research topics related to academic instruction. 3. My students will create graphs and charts in order to create visual representations of data that they collect. 4. My English Language Learners will practice phonemic awareness (sounding out words) on a variety of educational websites. 5. My struggling readers and mathematicians will practice skills that they are weak in on a variety of educational websites.

Our objective as educators is to make sure that students are ready for college and careers.

My students will greatly benefit from practicing skills that they will need to use in real world situations. There are many techniques that teachers can use to ensure that students have the skills to survive in the world of higher learning and beyond but with the appropriate tools, and with your help, I can not only help my students to survive in that world, I can help them to EXCEL.
