Technical Theatre is Going Wireless

My Students

My students are amazing performers and backstage technicians. Back in 2020 we were in the middle of working on our school musical, Beauty and the Beast, when everything got shut down from Covid. Students were devastated yet resilient. Even though the show was cancelled, many of them zoomed into class where we held virtual rehearsals, laughed, and enjoyed connecting with one another.

Even though we are back in school this year, and just finished auditions for our next show, I think we are all walking on egg shells wondering if it is all just going to fall apart again.

Despite those worries, the students continue to be dedicated and excited. It has been great seeing them interact and become excited about performing again. To quote Beauty and the Beast, I think we are starting to "feel human again".

My Project

There is so much that has to happen behind the scenes for a show to be successful and effective communication is one of those things. These wireless headsets will be a great way for our technical theatre students to collaborate and communicate with one another back stage during the run of a show.

Student technicians on both sides of the stage, as well as in the booth will be able to easily deliver and receive all of the commands necessary for success.

The best part is that they will not have to be tied down to a mess or cords that techs and actors could potentially trip on.

With the proper tools, they will be more successful at their jobs which will make the actors look and feel more successful while they do theirs. It's a win win.
