My students need a jigsaw, table saw, cordless drill, circular saw, and heat gun in order to receive an appropriate technical theatre education. Power tools will help my students build theatre sets.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an inner-city public high school in Houston,Texas. Most students come from low-income families and extra-curricular activities is what drives their desire to be at school.
I have a growing theatre program and a component of theatre arts is Technical Theatre.
Technical Theatre incorporates math skills like volume, measurements, angles, height, and many other cross-curricular subjects. Some of the items we need are a jig saw, table saw, and a power drill to help us start our scene shop and be able to create sets for our shows. My students are interested in building and designing. This is a great opportunity!
My Project
I am now completing my second year as the theatre director at our high school and I am excited to be able to have a program students love coming to. My classes are growing due to increased interest in theatre. I want to be able to give my theatre students proper training, whether it be in Acting, Directing, or in this case, Technical Theatre. The tools we are asking for are basic instruments (power drill, table saw, jig saw, heat gun, circular saw) needed to create the beginning steps to great things! If we can have these tools, students will be able to create masterpieces they can be proud of.
Please consider donating to our Technical Theatre cause.
Fine Arts is an important element in a child's development and what better way to express one's self than with theatre. Thank you for your time and help.
