My Students
Technology is constantly evolving. Even the youngest children are expected to have basic technology skills. Please help me in providing this equipment for my kindergarten students.
Our school has recently implemented BYOD (bring your own device). This is a wonderful program, but it is not always that great for kindergarten students. Most parents do not want their five or six-year-old students carrying expensive equipment to school. Our school does not have an abundance of technology, and with children being unable to bring their own, the students in younger grades will be unable to have the access to technology that they need.
I have a group of 19 of the sweetest, most eager to learn kindergarteners that you could ask for.
Out of my group of 19, I have a variety of special needs. Technology is a wonderful way to level the playing field for these children who need a little extra assistance.
My Project
I plan on using the iPad as a center. The children will be able to play educational games as well as listen to prerecorded books. Leveled and customized reading and math programs will be readily available for every child. This additional piece of equipment in the room will provide for equitable access to technology for all students.
Giving my students access to extra technology will enable them to participate in a wider variety of activities in the classroom.
Using the iPad will give students the access to programs that they may be unable to access otherwise. It will be an extremely valuable teaching tool in my class.
