Help me give my students Technology that works! My students need to have engaging lessons in order to make as much progress as possible during this difficult time of Covid-19.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have great students; they're funny, inquisitive, and hard working. I teach Special Education students and my students have learning disabilities, autism, or have been diagnosed with ADHD. They are all unique in their own special way, but they al have something in common, they love to learn.
During this time, I want to provide high quality online lesson plans as well as interactive activities during distance learning.
But in order to do that, I need access to better technology.
My Project
Covid-19 pandemic has impacted learning for my students and myself. It has been difficult adapting to distance learning due to "old" technology, especially for teaching students with special needs. We hold daily class meetings on Zoom and unfortunately the laptop I use is outdated. As a result, our class meetings are interrupted by something going wrong, such as not being able to hear the audio, zoom freezing or I am unable to share the screen. I can see my students lose interest and become distracted. Furthermore, I am holding student IEP meetings virtually, it is vital to use current technology so we can obtain signatures and provide information appropriately. Based on the need for quality distance education and holding effective IEP meetings, we greatly need a new Samsung laptop for our classroom activities. The larger screen, the security features, and updated software is exactly what my students and I need to maintain safe and supportive distance learning environments!
