Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class consists of 32 students who are eager to learn, all of which have free or reduced lunch due to financial limitations. My students have become driven in the area of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) this school year. They all have a desire to embrace new challenges that are placed before them.
My students sadly don't have access to technology at home.
I hope to give these eager learners as much exposure in the area of using technology as a tool, rather than just for gaming.
My goals are to expose my students to technology in the classroom in all academic areas. My students already work collaboratively by planning projects and having group discussions and having an iPad Pro to develop and present the projects will enhance their already practiced skill.
My students are sweet and really get excited about many things, however, phenomena (phenomenaNGSS) in the area of science has been a real opener for them. The phenomena of how a bee can fly to the disappearing lake in Oregon. The excitement I see in them is why I hope to leverage my students' technology learning by providing an IPad pro for group collaboration.
My Project
Having an iPad Pro will allow for class collaboration in which learning and group work engages deeper learning, social skills, understanding and levels of activity. It builds oral communication and self-management as well as fostering responsibility and self-esteem.
The iPad Pro will be used in blended learning centers for STEM.
Students will be able to use the iPad Pro allows for collaboration when it comes to the production of technology-based assignments. Collaborative groups in all academic areas. Students can share their findings via various apps to share with other students. The iPad Pro can also be used for math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.
