Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"To tech or not to tech that is the question." We live in the technology age yet my students have no exposure to technology. It is extremely important to incorporate technology into the curriculum so our students can compete in the global, technological world.

I have an energetic bunch of third graders that are computer savvy, but they have very little exposure to technology in school.

Our school is very hands on and exploratory; however we are lacking in the technology department. Currently, there are no desktop computers nor a computer lab for students to experience using educational technology throughout the school day.

My Project

Although, a printer is very basic as far as technology it will be a start for our classroom. This printer is tech savvy so it can connect to I-pads and other mobile devices. We have six iPads and the students will be able to print their art work and writing pieces using the printer. This will allow us to showcase our work publicly to our school community of all the wonderful work we are creating on the iPads. Some activities we will engage in for the year are creating posters, comics, and traditional stories with authentic digital art work. Students will learn how to incorporate technology into traditional writing activities. They will gain experience with digital websites, photography and art.

The donations to this project will help to improve my classroom by allowing the student work to be seen publicly.

Students digital art will no longer have to be hidden in an email or behind a screen. We will be able to print in color and share our work with our school community. The students will be able to store work digitally as well as a traditional portfolio to keep and treasure for a lifetime.
