My Students
Do you remember your first computer science class? Using technology used to mean sitting in a chair and staring at a screen. While my students love using technology in their learning, many of them learn best kinesthetically. Luckily, today's technology allows for interaction and movement.
My students are an excited group of first graders who love to learn new things in new ways.
While our school has limited resources, we work hard to provide a variety of learning experiences for students to make sure we are meeting the needs of their different learning styles. My students attend a year-round school, so we are ready to use the summertime to work towards achieving strong academic gains.
My Project
Our classroom is set up to promote exploration and individualized learning. Students work independently or in small groups to practice and reinforce reading, math and science. Having an Xbox and Kinect in the classroom would add an entirely different dynamic to how my students interact with the content they're learning. Educational games would allow my students to draw connections to math, reading, and science in ways they could never do from just their seats alone. Students will be able to physically interact with the content, and also work collaboratively to find solutions to the scenarios presented to them through gaming.
The Swivl Robotic platform will work with our classroom iPads to record lessons for my students to use when necessary and learn in a way that meets their unique needs.
Your generous donations will provide my students with technology that not only promotes their curiosity for learning, but also allows them to learn in ways that are not available to the traditional classroom.
With interactive technologies in the classroom, this will help my students move beyond our academic goals of two years growth.
