TechBoston Seniors Designing a Home for the Dorchester Community
Help me give my students the opportunity to learn architecture skills for industry by getting one PC with enough memory to run the Revit program.

My Students
I teach Boston Youth Leadership at a high school in the Boston Public Schools where students design housing for members of the community using Revit architectural software.
My school receives 100 percent free lunch, and my students are from the most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in the City of Boston (02124).
What is unique about the students who take both of these classes is that almost have of them are newcomers to the United States where English is not their first language.
My students are extremely interested in developing architectural skills using Revit software and following the Project Lead the Way curriculum. However, the industry software can only be run on PC's with 50 GB of memory. We only have two of these computers to share for the whole class. These students have a lot of talent in design, but we just don't have enough PC's with Revit to allow every student to spend time to develop these skills.
My Project
The Civics and Housing class is designing a home based on family profile from the community. We are using the architecture software Revit which is the industry standard that licensed architects use. The home is jointly designed by a fourth grade class at the Holmes elementary school and TechBoston Academy in Dorchester, and will be built on city owned vacant land identified by City Councilor Andrea Campbell's office.
We only have two PC's that have enough memory to run this architecture program and they were also donated years ago.
We have 20 students in the class, and we all have to share these two devices. Having another PC device will open up an opportunity for at least five students to learn and participate in designing this home. We have some students that are talented and interested in being architects and engineers, but just don't have enough PC's for them to really fulfill their learning.
