it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title One elementary school in Arizona. Our students come from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds. Over seventy percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch daily. We service English, Spanish, French, and Arabic speaking families.
My school's mission focuses on academic, fitness, and personal achievements for both students and staff.
We believe all students can be successful and we try to give them every tool they need to reach their goals. Our staff teaches afterschool clubs throughout the year that range from art and dance to technology and math. We spend time in our classrooms, on announcements, and at assemblies celebrating the fitness and academic successes of our students and staff.
My Project
I teach a class of English Language Learner students. They often struggle during reading instruction with fluency and comprehension. Using an iPad helps many of them because often the text can be read to them or they can watch a video to support their learning.
Using an iPad during math gives my English Language Learner students more opportunities to hear and read the word problems.
They can use apps and websites that help them with the language and math vocabulary.
As a teacher, I can use the iPad to record lessons for students who need extra time and support or for students who missed the lesson. Having a protective case and charging port will help keep my iPads safe and fully charged so students can use them whenever they are needed.
