This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our urban district has many students whose parents suffer financially. Poverty does not discriminate and our students and their family are the victims Financial problems always generate other problems, which often generate even more problems. It is a cycle that does not end, hence the poor gets poorer. Just like donors can inspire teachers, teachers can inspire students and parents. It is our job to bring the community together to build a better future for the next generation. I am convinced that small things such as a picture of a preschooler can bring tons of happiness to parents. Seeing a child smile is priceless, this is the same smile that gives hope and love. Preschool is where things matter the most, as it is the start of the students active contribution to the community
My Project
"What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It's the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds," Steve Job said, and my students have inquisitive energetic minds waiting to exercise every second of the day, everyday, to explore, learn, and absorb knowledge.
My preschoolers are part of the digital generation and yet they don't have access to the technology of the future.
In class, the students and I are frustrated with our slow computer system. Playing educational videos is a hassle with the computer freezing frequently. Our softwares do not work properly due to low memory. We have so many computer issues that what should be an educational tool is now just a piece of hardware sitting on a desk. With a state of the art computer (Surface Pro), my current students and the many future students in the years come will be able to enjoy everything a computer can provide. We will have access to the vast amount of knowledge and information via internet, videos will be played without disruption, softwares working with speed and ease. We will be able to edit our school pictures and create classroom videos. With the Surface Pro, there will be nothing we can't do technologically. Like Steve Job said, it will become the "bicycle" for their minds.
