Tech Tools for Thomason's Pre-Teens

Help me give my students the opportunity to read about our fellow Americans. The document camera will be used to share their work with the class. The mini printer will help us create learning boards.

My Students

My students are awesome. We are in a rural setting, but have students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our students enjoy reading and and having new books will help us grow a love of reading and learning. Our students need to be encouraged to learn more about U.S.and Tennessee History. New books would help. Helping us get some more tools in order to achieve our goals, would be great!

Our classroom has some technology but, we need some upgrades in order for the lessons to be efficient and effective.

My students are from a small rural community. Some students only have access to the internet at school. Some of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and have single parent households. And, the population of ELL students in our school is increasing with each year.

My students are extremely curious and love to learn about the world around them. There is only one major city that is an hour away. All others take two hours to arrive. We could use some more equipment and other devices to help the students learn and explore our world.

My Project

Students will use the headphones to block the outside noise and experience learning with the sounds of nature and battles. Students will share observations with the class using the document camera. The wireless keyboard and mouse will make the classroom run more efficiently.

In order to enjoy and understand our past we must read and study about it - thus the need for books about people of American History.

The "Who is and Who was" series provide excellent books to learn and understand about the people of the time periods in our social studies curriculum. Please help us make science and history come to life in fifth grade.
