My Students

Any student with a special need usually needs special accommodations. My students have a range of special needs, most have a learning disability, and often struggle to complete their school work or even enjoy being in school. The more visual aids they can access, the more successful they can be.

My students come from low income families in Washington, DC.

They attend a rigorous charter school where they are on their way to college preparatory high schools and one day college. My students have very long hours and could very easily be the students you hear saying "I hate school" or "Reading is the worst". But you won't hear them say that. As much as they might struggle with learning to read or do math, they come to school with smiles on their faces each day ready to learn and try their hardest.

My Project

It is often hard for a student with a learning disability to easily access materials. I am asking for a document camera and projector for a small group and intervention space to allow my students to benefit as much as they can from working closely with the teacher and their peers. This technology will allow us to projector shared reading books and math videos as well as project the strategies they can use to complete their work.

This technology will impact our classroom and allow students to ensure their love for learning continues throughout each day and the rest of their lives.

My students love to be able to take a "brain break" or watch a video expressing exactly what their learning. Most of the time they don't even know they are still learning when they get to have fun!
