Do you remember the feeling of excitement and anticipation that ran through your veins the first time you held your IPhone or IPad? Or the look on your child's face when they opened their new laptop on Christmas morning? Sadly, some children have never felt those feelings.
My class is full of 5-6 year olds that come from various socio-economic statuses in one of the largest cities in Mississippi.
Our school is one of the oldest in the district, and is lacking in the area of technology. Teachers have limited access to laptops and other technology devices being brought inside their classrooms. These children love to learn in as many different ways that you can think of. They are all on different learning levels, and many do not have access to a computer at home.
My Project
Common Core was implemented in my Kindergarten classroom last year. Technology plays a key role in this new learning guide, because in order for America to catch up with other countries, we have have to be as technologically advanced as they are. This goal is unattainable if not all children are adequately exposed to technology. Having a tablet in my classroom, ready for use at any time, will better my students' chances of obtaining these much needed skills. The learning games and apps that will be available for them to work on will not only build their skills in working the device, but will also reinforce what I am teaching in the classroom. The visual and tactile learners will benefit greatly from the hands-on and the auditory learners will benefit from the language of the games and apps. No child will not benefit from being able to use the tablet. It is a win-win situation for all of the learners in my classroom.
Your donations to my project will help me place my students one step closer to becoming a technologically advanced group of students.
Help my students feel the excitement and anticipation of getting to hold the tablet for the first time, and experience the same feelings that you have. Helping me will in turn help our country get back on track to becoming the top nation once again. Thank you so much for your consideration!
