My students need access to more technology throughout their day. Having an iPad will help them with work and research during math and reading small group time.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title 1 elementary school in Arizona. Our students come from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds. Over 70% of our students receive free or reduced lunch daily. We service English, Spanish, French, and Arabic speaking families.
My school's mission focuses on academic, fitness, and personal achievements for both students and staff.
We believe all students can be successful and we try to give them all the tools they need to reach their goals. Our staff teaches after-school clubs throughout the year that range from art and dance to technology and math. We spend time in our classrooms, on announcements, and at assemblies celebrating the fitness and academic successes of our students and staff.
My Project
My students can benefit from an iPad in a variety of ways. During reading, they can use it to study high frequency words or to have a story read to them. They can also conduct research on a topic or practice typing skills during our writing time.
During our math block, my students can use an iPad to practice math skills or watch a video on how to perform a mathematical operation.
They will be able to work alone or with a partner on an iPad to better help them understand the math problems we work on. Many apps are available for students to practice remedial math skills that will help them reach our grade level goals.
