Our students live in a suburb of a large southern city. Our school is a K-8 STEM school. I currently provide services for students who are below level in reading. During our pull-out sessions we cover all aspects of reading including phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. I pull reading resources from topics that align with current science curriculum taught in the classroom.
The struggle of eight and nine year olds as they grapple with reading skill acquisition is real.
We build on the readiness of our students to create an environment with materials and tools ready to bring them to the next level of learning. My students are ready to be challenged!
My Project
The iPads requested in this project will be used by my students to review and practice reading and math skills, complete research as well as create projects to demonstrate learning.
In today's classrooms, teaching, learning and responding to learning take on a multi-faceted approach.
Students need to learn to use technology to practice/review skills in math and reading. Utilizing iPads for demonstrating knowledge mastery is one way I can provide students with tech based options. Students will research STEM based topics and create presentations using Apps such as SWAY. Access to tech creates learning opportunities for students to independently explore, design and share their learning experiences!
