My Students

I have a very enthusiastic group of fifth graders. They love learning and are especially drawn to exploratory learning experiences where I serve as a facilitator as they search for answers to topics that peak their interests.

The majority of the students I teach have not been provided the opportunities outside of school to discover their world beyond where they live.

We live in a very small community that focuses on strong partnerships between teachers, students, and families, but unfortunately, finances are not always available to expose the children to learning experiences outside of our community.

My Project

With funding for these iPads, almost every single student that I teach will have access to their own which will be used throughout the course of each day. While we are blessed to currently have 12 iPads, the students have to share them with one or two other students. They would benefit more from having their own to use so that they are constantly engaged in the assignment at hand. Throughout the course of the year, they have created group projects in which they published on the iPads that we currently have. They enjoy working together, but I would like for every child to have their own personal experience publishing information in a way that is uniquely their own.

Donations towards my project will improve my classroom in that all of the students I currently teach as well as future students will develop a greater sense of how technology enhances our knowledge through interactive, hands-on experiences.

Computer and presentation technologies are an important tool to deliver information using a method that children embrace.
