Help me give my students a teacher who is prepared to go the distance during Distance Learning. Every lesson's success hinges upon having the best technology available, which is why this project is vital to me.

My Students

My students are absolutely amazing and the reason that I continue to do this job. I have been teaching in Castro Valley for nine years and completely fallen in love with the student population.

My students make me laugh on a daily basis while they bring heart, joy, and earnestness to their studies.

We are a unique school and community because of how we really represent the diversity in the Bay Area and beyond. Rarely in a school does one see such a mix of all sorts of demographic information, such as race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. My students continually to strive to make the world a better place by deepening their understanding of everything around them.

My Project

During Distance Learning, my success as a teacher hinges almost entirely on having the technology tools at my fingertips that can help support students. A new computer will help ensure that I am able to connect and run class using fun and engaging resources. I will not get kicked out of sessions because of a glitchy or old device that takes too long to power up or run multiple apps at the same time. Nor will my students' voices be drowned out by a computer that sounds like it might spontaneously combust because of projecting slides while being on a virtual class with 33 students.

This new device will be faster and more efficient, thus allowing me to focus my time and energy on my students and creating lessons that will continue to hold them to high standards and push their way of thinking.

Not to mention that our virtual class time will be used effectively because of being able to easily navigate the various online tools that I am trying to use. I will be able to complete more work in a shorter amount of time, which will give me more time to connect with students on an individual level and provide them with the academic, social, and emotional support that they need.

I have put off getting a new device for awhile now, despite delays the slowdowns on my current one. However since it seems that we are in Distance Learning for the long haul, this is an important upgrade that will make a big difference in my life as an educator and the experiences that my students have.
