My Students

My school, a high-performing, public charter school located on the southeast side of Chicago, approximately serves 500 scholars grades K-8. 89% of our scholars qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Throughout the day, I have 90 bright and driven seventh and eighth-grade students.

As an educator, it is my goal to provide my scholars with a rich social studies curriculum that promotes critical thinking skills with the outcome of creating and forming 76 scholars into strong leaders and beacons within their communities.

It is imperative that my scholars have opportunities to cultivate their voices as active learners and engaged citizens. Learning about ancient civilizations and systems of government should extend beyond the pages of a textbook. Giving my scholars the opportunity to broaden their horizons by providing a learning environment that promotes creative and critical thinking while incorporating cross-curricular subject material means cultivating the next generation of civically-minded beacons.

My Project

These technological materials will continue to enrich the classroom learning environment by increasing both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

As students begin returning to the building, some for the first time in over a year and a half, these technology-based tools will be used to incentivize student achievement on their road to success.

Amazon Fire Tablets, drones, PlayStation additions, Polaroid cameras, and Bluetooth mice for their Chromebooks have been requested by students in the past to incentivize and motivate them to maximize their academic and learning outcomes. With that, the materials from this project will push students to implement positive work ethic and encourage scholars to strive for 100%.
