Tech for Remote Learning

Help me give my students learn to use remote learning technology while in school. My students would benefit from being able to learn how to use online applications and video conference from their familiar staff within the school.

My Students

My classroom consists of five students, all who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Throughout the course of the day, my paraprofessionals and I work to increase independence, generalize skills across multiple settings and enhance communication for wants, needs and interests.

Learning to cope with their own behaviors and feelings, as well as the feelings of others is a daily focus for my students.

We are working to develop coping strategies to help with overwhelming situations. Along with academics, we have started working on pre-vocational skills and independent living skills. Our classroom has a mock grocery store and an "apartment" where they can learn to make their bed, set the table, and fold clothes.

All of my students have bubbly personalities that shine more each day through developing language and regulated behaviors. My dream is that they will learn the independence skills to be successful post-school and to aid the loving families who care for them at home.

My Project

My students are currently attending school in person. I am trying to prepare them the best I can to succeed at home should we need to switch to remote learning. By having technology in the classroom, the students' familiar staff and teachers can help them learn how to navigate the online applications and video conferencing before having to do it from home.

Technology is a crucial part of learning now and my students need assistance to learn how to access it.

We will use the materials and tablets each day so they are familiar and able to continue learning from home.
