This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 8th graders are amazing. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them so far this year and they do not cease to amaze me everyday. They are a diverse bunch of students that come from all walks of life. This year, I am lucky to be teaching students whose math abilities are vastly different, from those who are far below grade level in a math support class, varied levels in my Math 8 classes, and far above grade level in my Integrated Math 1 classes in which my 8th graders are taking a high school level course.

Since COVID began a few years ago now, our school has implemented 1 to 1 Chromebooks and a charging station would be a life-changer.

Although my students are constantly reminded to charge their devices, they regularly come to school with a drained battery and no charger. Multiple classroom chargers have disappeared from my class, no longer giving my students the opportunity to charge their device in class.

I also display my class notes through the projector using my iPad and Apple TV allowing me to walk freely around the classroom. I need a new iPad and Apple pencil to continue to teach Math without being stuck to a whiteboard or docu-cam. This way I can also easily post class notes to our Canvas page online for students who are absent or missed something in class.
