This is the message that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told our students on a December visit, when he came to teach a lesson about computer coding. Our K-5 school would love to have electronic resources for our students to use in classrooms for creative learning.
Our students represent a wonderful world of diversity-Black, White, Asian, Hispanic and Native American.
Some of our young learners come from families who have been longtime residents in Seattle, while others come from immigrant families from all over the world--Mexico, Ethiopia, Vietnam, the Philippines and more. We are building a powerhouse of a school, and together, they represent a bright future.
My Project
Tablets in the classroom will help us with learning and creative projects. Our kindergarten scholars will aptly learn how to use the touch screen for counting and phonics skills, while our 1st and 2nd graders can create digital books using their own artwork and practice reading fluency. Intermediate learners can hone their presentation skills to create audio recordings, make summaries of their favorite books and stories, use stop-motion to illustrate step-by-step math skills, and create videos of science projects.
Many of our students don't have computers at home, and offering these resources through school allows them to not only work on academic skills but to envision college and career possibilities for the future.
