This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is located in Texas and most of my students come from low socioeconomic status. Some of my students have never been in school or a daycare setting. It’s the beginning of their educational lives and sometimes requires a period of adjusting.
Halloween goodie bags can be a fun and effective way to support PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) in my classroom.
By using seasonal rewards, I can motivate students to meet behavioral expectations in a festive and engaging way.
One simple strategy is to offer goodie bags as rewards for my students who earn a certain number of PBIS points or consistently demonstrate positive behaviors like kindness, respect, or responsibility. I can also use themed or tiered goodie bags small treats for daily goals, and larger ones for longer-term achievements.
Classroom raffles are another great option: students earn raffle tickets for positive behavior and enter to win Halloween-themed goodie bags. For a team-building approach, my entire class can work toward a shared goal, like earning 100 points collectively, to earn goodie bags for everyone.
Overall, Halloween goodie bags offer a low-cost, high-impact way to energize PBIS systems and keep my students excited about making good choices.
