TeamBuilding Through Legos Challenges & Board Games
Help me give my students board games and Legos as resources to support students’ social, emotional, and mental well-being as well as the impacts of interrupted learning as a result of COVID-19.
My students love to do hands-on activities! Many of my students play video games and build online, but most of my students do not play classic board games or have an opportunity to build with Legos. I would like to give my students an opportunity to gain social skills and learn to be competitive.
Playing board games and building with LEGOs encourages teamwork, collaboration, and improves creativity.
Students will be excited to have the opportunity to show off their creativity and spend time getting to know each other, in person in a collaborative, playful environment.
COVID-19 impacted learning for my students in many ways, but one of the most obvious is the impact on their social skills and time spent on play with peers. These games and Legos will allow me to provide at least one hour a day for my students to simply play together, talk, socialize, problem-solve, compete, and complete challenges to build their social emotional well-being and increase their sense of self helping students to continue their social-emotional learning in light of COVID-19 and lack of in-person activities and collaboration.
