Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are incredible. I am incredibly lucky to be their teacher. I have the distinct honor to be teaching students in great need, both financially as well as emotionally. My kids come to me every day with new challenges in their family and in their social lives, down to their very basic needs, such as food. I teach each and every single day hoping to not only teach my students the skills of English but also to touch their souls by showing them that I care about each and every single one of them.

My students are young teens who need just as much guidance now as when they were very young, maybe even more.

The real-life struggles that they face sometimes feel as overwhelming as any adult problem we face every day. The thing is, my students don't have the skills to face these issues in a productive manner.

One way that I intend to reach these goals include coaching their speech and debate team. In order to compete, the students need matching shirts to represent Carson Junior High with pride.

My Project

We are a low income school with great pride and motivation to reach and even exceed our goals. We have an amazing speech and debate team who is working hard to break the barriers of being a low income school. Showing respect and pride in our school is simply what we want to do as a team.

Team shirts that show off and represent our school with pride are what we need!

Our students are not able to pay for their own shirts and this is a huge expense for our team every year. Facing economical hardship doesn't stop these students from performing to their best abilities at each and every game. However, the team's confidence would greatly improve with matching team shirts.
