This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our science lab is a place of challenge and discovery. Students will spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they pursue their education.

The students that I have a privilege of teaching range from Kindergarten - 5th graders in an urban, inner city elementary school.

They are excited to explore the world of science, to perform experiments, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

Our student population is 99% minority and over 90% qualify for free or reduced price lunch. With that being said, I believe that they deserve the BEST education and every opportunity to be successful in fulfilling their dreams.

My Project

Please help me provide my students of all ages with a variety of board games like Guess Who, Monopoly, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Life, Trouble, Scrabble, Operation, Sorry, Jenga, Matching, and Scooters. I added scooters to have team race competitions outdoors. I feel that playing fun board games will allow my students to work on their team building skills. They need to improve on how they interact with one another.

I would LOVE to have Fun Friday Game Day, exposing the students to board games they have never played before.

This will be a great incentive for the students to be on their best behavior throughout the week.

It is vital to have the students work in cooperative groups in the science lab and a fun way to do that would be to have them play board games. I am looking forward to seeing their faces light up and working together.
