Team Building and Outdoor Movement

Help me give my students a variety of activities that they can use to increase their gross motor skills while outside at recess. The bucket stilts are a great activity to improve balance.

My Students

I work in an urban school where the students are coming from low income households. The students are playing in a concrete parking lot during their recess time. They need activities to do during this time that are engaging, fun, and will promote team building. We are so excited and grateful to be back in the building after a year of remote learning. My students are so full of life and are eager to learn. Because of Covid protocols the students are sitting in their seats for a majority of their day. They need to get outside and move around. This project will make their time during recess more exciting.

My Project

My students are currently playing on a concrete parking lot during their recess time. They are provided with a few basketballs but these are often deflated. My students need more hands on activities that they can play with while outside. They will use the stilts and swing ball sets to help with balance.

The students can bring their creativity outside with the chalk.

The new set of balls will be perfect for various team building games. We can set the hoola hoops and all of these materials up for obstacle courses which promote team building as well.
