Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Being in a high needs school district, there are very limited resources and support given to individual teachers. I just entered this classroom on January 16, and there is more than just the needs of students in this new room. There is a need for resources. Teachers of students with severe learning disabilities are constantly challenged in the classroom and have to design creative solutions.
My goal is to create engaging activities for my students to excel in their learning, but I cannot do that without tools and manipulatives.
Students in this classroom are highly energetic and engaged when correlating their classroom learning with the world around them. My goal with this project is not only to give students the skills needed to be independent individuals, but also educate them about environmental and other global issues through technology and other stimulating connections.
I hope to instill in my students an excitement and love of learning about the world around them. If my students are able to make the connection that their everyday habits has a direct impact on the environment and world, then my project will have accomplished its goal. The tools listed will help support success in my classroom.
My Project
From art materials to science books, glow lights to fidgets, these materials will benefit my students and give them the ability to learn in the class. As a teacher, my sole goal is to empower our future leaders to be a part of saving and changing the world in a positive way.
Fidgets help them concentrate, lavender helps them focus and stay calm, books, games, and maps engage them to read and connect their learning to the world.
