My Students

1 teacher. 102 third grade students. Though all my students are very different, they have one thing in common. THEY NEED MORE INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION. Since I'm only one person, the best way to get it done is to take advantage of all that technology has to offer! I call it TEACHnology!

I teach 102 third grade students in middle Georgia.

"My kids" include many types of learners from different backgrounds, family situations, ability levels, and economic statuses. They range from gifted in every way to struggling with basic communication skills...and I wouldn't change a thing! Our school's 600+ diverse learners love to use technology, but there just isn't enough to go around in a building with that many students.

My Project

All my kids have great ideas and talents to offer the world if they just have the chance to develop them. Creating multiple engaging lessons (for 24-28 students at a time) that reach students at their learning levels while offering them one-on-one or small group attention is almost impossible for one teacher without the use of technology. My Social Studies, Reading, English, and Writing can all be easily made into online learning lessons. Our school has some laptop computers, but they have to be shared between three grade levels. Teachers can't depend on using them on a daily basis as they are frequently pulled for use elsewhere in our building. I need a dependable technology source that can stay in my classroom for use in one-on-one or small groups on a daily basis. With a degree in educational technology, I know how to create engaging lessons that can meet my students' needs. I just need the devices to make it happen!

By choosing to fund my project, you will put a device in the hands of a third grader.

He may read on a first grade level or an eighth grade level. She may need a small group lesson because she has mastered the third grade standard and can be challenged to further her understanding or because she needs to catch up from being absent (which is virtually impossible for one teacher to accomplish with 26 other kids in the room). When students can work on their own level, everyone can succeed!
