My students need Quad Core Android 4.4 KitKat Tablet PC to access technology for use in the classroom with educational apps and as an interactive tool to be used during instruction.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Even in this digital age, many students do not have access to technology tools that could greatly impact their learning.
The students at my school are part of a largely migrant, Hispanic, agricultural community and receive free or reduced lunch.
My math students make up the bottom 25% of students in math. Most of these students have math skills that are 2 grade levels below their current grade level, and the majority of them come from non-English speaking households. Unfortunately, although our district does have a Bring Your Own Device policy, many of my students do not have access to devices that they can bring to school to use for educational purposes.
My Project
A class set of tablets would allow for student access to technology for use with interactive applications and websites such as www.nearpod.com, which allows teachers to put a presentation in the students hands, and allow for the student to interact with the slides for ongoing assessments of a lesson and providing instant feedback for teachers and students.
We all live in a digital world.
It is essential that our students have access to the tools that are shaping our world. A classroom set of tablets would not only provide students with a powerful tool to use during classroom instruction, but it would also provide a tool for use in lunch and learn sessions and afterschool tutoring sessions, which would further enrich our students learning.
More than half of students from low‑income households
