My Students

"Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time." ~ Chinese proverb My students were born in the time of technology.

My students are technology natives.

They have never known a world where technology was not a significant part of their lives. How can I give them the best possible education without technology in my classroom? I can't. It's simply not possible to prepare students for college and careers in the 21st century without technology. I teach in an Integrated Co-Teaching first grade classroom. My co-teacher and I work with 27 amazing and unique students. They work hard, and despite the fact that many have special needs, each of them strives to achieve in his or her own way.

My Project

I want to put even more technology in the hands of my students. By implementing technology within my classroom, I open up an entire world of possibilities for my boys and girls. I am requesting 1 additional iPad mini tablet with accessories and a service warranty (because kids do break things), in order to bring the world of educational apps to my students. I plan to use apps to reinforce concepts in math, such money skills and financial literacy, including making change or keeping records. I also need 6 sets of headphones with audio splitters, so that I can have 6 students working on my 3 iPad minis at the same time. For reading and language arts, there are apps to help improve skills in phonics, word recognition and even reading comprehension. The possibilities are limitless!
