My Students
My students are extremely creative and always wanting to try their hand at new projects. Unfortunately, my students have only been able to create mostly 2D art because of our lack of materials. As we end the semester, I would like to go out with a bang and create some amazing 3D art.
My students are amazing.
They attend an all boys school school. They are the most creative group of students I have ever been around. My students push me to come up with new ideas for projects because they are so talented. Every time I give them a project I am amazed at how their work turns out. They are constantly asking me what else they can do. They take pride in their work and want it to be perfect. They won't quit until they produce a project that is exactly how they imagined it in their head. Everyday after school I go home in search of new ways to stretch their thinking and creativity. They inspire me as an artist and an art teacher. My students are hard workers and push themselves to the max every single day.
My Project
I am requesting masking tape and poster board so that my students can create 3D Architectural letters. My students will begin learning about typography and then actually create their own font. From there they will create a 3D letter of their initial. They will then paper mache it and design the letter in a way that expresses who they are. My students will learn about the importance of font and how it effects them every day. They see fonts in ads and marketing and books etc. but often times don't realize how much it plays a roll in how a message is perceived. My students will have a chance to show who they are through letters. This project will stretch their creativity and force them to think about who they are and how they want to represent themselves.
This project is important because it will expose my students to new materials, allow them to be creative in a new way, self reflect and share.
My students will also be more aware of the message around them.
