Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach third grade in a high-poverty school in Georgia. One hundred percent of students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are diverse in academic ability, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and life experience. They are excited about school and love learning new things. My third graders particularly love Science and being able to conduct experiments and learn about the world.

I want to provide my students with the best education possible.

We need partners like you to help us get these resources into our classroom.

My Project

The world we live in is rich in diversity. My students come from various cultural and family backgrounds. With this project, I am hoping to give my students access to a broader collection of diverse books. I want more of my students to meet characters who resemble them doing ordinary things like playing with friends at recess or starting a club.

Research tells us, "Kids need to see people who look like them who have faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and made a difference in the world."

Students are more likely to see reflections of themselves in characters, as well as gain a better understanding of the world around them. Students can learn about other countries and cultures, and learn about others who are not exactly like us.

Your donation would give my students books with characters they can see themselves in.
