This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in the area of the country that has been hardest hit by recent current events. These youngsters reside in the Bronx; NY where 100% of the students receive free lunch. As if their circumstances weren't difficult enough; all of my students have been directly impacted by the pandemic COVID-19 and racial injustice.

These talented boys and girls deserve a chance to get the same outstanding education that their privilege counterparts take for granted.

My bright, smart, gifted and capable students have been quarantined since March 27th when NYC first went into isolation. They tell me that they are frightened, frustrated and confused.

My Project

"I believe the children are the future...teach them well and let them lead the way". My students are deeply and personally effected by the events happening in their community.

We are requesting books including "I Am Latino" and "I Am Enough." These are important books for instilling self-love.

I will use these well known books on culture, tolerance, acceptance and kindness to educate and teach my brilliant students about fairness and equality.

My students tell me everyday in our live video lessons how hurt, sad and confused they feel right now. These great books will help me to start some very difficult, but much needed conversations with my class.
