This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our kindergarten classroom includes movement, singing, laughter, learning and a lot of fun. My students are 5 or 6 years old and learn best through movement and play activities that keep them engaged. We love to learn using technology and sensory materials.

My students are growing academically and socially every day. They are just starting their journey to becoming life-long learners and I want to give them every opportunity see that learning is fun!

My Project

Many of the students that come into our classroom community have never been in school before. There are so many things to learn but some of the most important skills are kindness and tolerance. Being respectful and tolerant of others can be very hard for little learners. These picture books will help them be engaged in learning about tolerance and how being different is the only things we all have in common. They will help our classroom to celebrate diversity and empathy. Using these books, I will plan lessons that will teach my students life skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.
