Teaching Today's Students with Tomorrow's Technology!

My students need an Apple TV and HDMI cable in order to connect our iPads to our classroom projector.

My Students

Our elementary school is one of the biggest in our district. We have a total of 7 second grade classes. With a school this big, our population is extremely diverse. Our school is located along the coastline in a small, rural town. We have very low economic families in our community, but these children are always eager to learn and ready to overcome obstacles. I want to help these children go even further and really push themselves. Your donations will make that dream possible for my classroom.

My Project

My students love to use the iPads that we have been fortunate enough to obtain through DonorsChoose. While I like to have them use specific apps to practice specific skills, it doesn't help them if they are practicing incorrectly. With the addition of an Apple TV, we can mirror one of our iPads and project it onto the Promethean board in order to model the correct way to use the app before students are allowed to practice on their own. We can also use the mirroring of apps when teaching specific skills as well.

Having the ability to wirelessly project the image from our iPads will improve my classroom as it will allow students to see what each other is doing.

Students can become the teacher as they model for each how to use apps. Peer teaching is very important in today's classrooms.
