This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In today's technologically savvy world, it's important that our students are provided the opportunity to maintain a competitive edge with other students in surrounding areas.

Our school is located in an urban center in Southern California.

We are a Title 1 (Socio-Economically Disadvantaged) school, and a majority of our students participate in the free lunch program. We have a very nice, tight-knit community with parent and neighborhood involvement. I have 31 energetic 5th graders who are eager to learn, especially if it involves technology. Math is just about all of my students' favorite subject.

My Project

An interactive tablet would have many uses in the classroom. First of all, it would allow students to see, hear, or retrieve information at a swipe of a finger for research projects, social studies or health. Secondly, level appropriate books could be downloaded, read or listened to, which would help increase reading comprehension skills. Also, an interactive tablet may be used as a presentation tool to increase student engagement. The uses for a tablet are numerous; it can be used for every subject from mathematics to art to physical education.

I feel that an interactive tablet would be a great asset to our classroom.

Students will be excited about learning, engaged, and, most of all, meeting the required standards. A tablet would assist in closing the technology gap.
