Help me give my students 2 iPads with cases and protection plan and iTunes Gift cards to purchase apps for the learning experience.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We currently serve students that live in affluent families, middle-class families, and students living in poverty. Our students come to school each day eager to learn despite any challenges that they face.
We currently educate more than 100 preschoolers age 3-5 years old with varying levels of abilities including students with an educational diagnosis of Young Child with a Developmental Delay.
The YCDD diagnosis covers a wide range of delays including cognitive, social/emotional/behavior, fine motor, gross motor, speech/language and others. Despite these delays, our students thrive in their classroom alongside typically developing peers. For many of our students with a YCDD diagnosis, technology is a way to reach their full potential both in and out of the classroom. Through the use of technology, our students can have a voice through augmentative communication applications and/or have access to alternative activities for pre-academic skills, self-regulation, and fine motor activities.
Through the donation of iPads, our students will be able to work on achieving their IEP goals and utilize them as motivation to complete given tasks in the general education setting. The two iPads can also be used to assist with communication and scheduling of a student's day. So many children are motivated by technology these days that iPads have become a prime teaching tool.
The donation of iPads will help to motivate and encourage our students to work and meet their IEP goals. They will foster independence in learning and succeeding in school.
My goal is to help children achieve independence and reduce the need for special education services once they reach a school age setting.
