This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

St. Augustine once said, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." The students in my classroom do not always get the chance to travel. Many of them have never been outside our city limits. I want to give my students a chance to read their own book.

My students are from a very low income area.

99% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. They go home to empty houses, or go home to take care of siblings. Many of them have never traveled anywhere! However, despite what their home life is like, they have a love of learning that can not denied. This whole month we have been learning about different countries around the world. This has sparked an undeniable curiosity for what the world holds.

My Project

If we receive the webcam and wireless mouse, we can travel the world and meet students from every country imaginable. We would be able to see our pen pals; we could meet students from China, and England, and our new favorite, Australia! Another dream I have is to develop awareness for our own state as well. However, with funding not available, we cannot go on many field trips! With a webcam, we would be able to have visitors in our classroom at no cost to the students, or the school! I would be able to support our units with real life connections, and build meaningful experiences for my students.
