My Students

How do we prepare students for careers that are not even invented yet? Teach 21st century skills. Technology is at the center of this pivotal shift.

I teach 28 diverse 5th graders.

Our school is located a few miles out of the city, in a low economic area. Many students do not have computers or Internet access at their homes. Within my classroom they have 3 desktop computers they share. The students range from slightly above grade level to more than 3 grades below. The class is about half special education population with a range of disabilities. Although the students face obstacles, they are extremely eager to learn.

My Project

An iPad mini will provide the students instant access to inquiry learning. Students will be able to have answers to their questions at their fingertips. In addition, students will be able to use apps to reinforce learning, or provide differentiate instruction. Last, students can use the iPad to produce Imovies, videos, podcasts, etc to show their learning. Overall an iPad mini would drastically change our classroom.

An iPad mini would be the most beneficial tool for my students.

In order for students to be college and career ready, they need to have access to technology on a daily basis. By providing an iPad mini to my class students will develop a vast range of skills and knowledge.
