This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are one of a kind. Each one enters my room coming from many different backgrounds and ethnicities which adds to my melting pot of a classroom. These are the kids that if you look them in their eyes, you have no idea what they just came from or had to experience before they reached my classroom door. Yet, despite the challenges they are up against, they show up every day, with a smile across their face and eager, ready and willing to learn! They ask questions, they challenge theories, and they want answers! They are creative thinkers who, when given the opportunity, will take the ball and run with it. My second graders are the CEOs, entrepreneurs, inventors, and scientists of the future!
My Project
These iPad Minis will give the students in my class the opportunity to gain exposure to modern day technology they have not had before. These students will be able to understand how to research and investigate various topics as well as drive their instruction by having access to the research with the iPads. These iPads will make learning fun and engaging for all different learners. Many students do not have technology at home, so they can not practice. They will gain a great deal of independence and more confidence in being ready for the world outside, by being able to grasp these skills early on in their educational journey.
