Teaching Students How to Show Compassion for Others

Help me give my students show compassion to their fellow classmates, through journaling, providing snacks and ways to practice self care.

My Project

I want my students to learn how to show compassion for themselves and others at our school. A lot of our students have not learned how to manage their own emotions. Therefore, I want to teach them how helping others can also help them feel emotionally safe at home and school. I plan to use these items; "thank you" cards, snacks, journals, and pens to help my scholars learn how to not only see themselves but others. We will learning how to use journaling to understand their emotions in a safe space to express these emotions. The Thank You cards will help them express gratitude towards others, they will use snacks to learn sharing and how to show compassion for others and/or as a reward for students showing compassion for others. The hand massagers will be used to teach students how to practice self care and relaxation techniques on themselves.

In conclusion, these items collectively teach students to see the world through the eyes of others.

I'll gauge students' comprehension and application of compassion through their demonstrated acts of kindness and supportive behavior towards their peers.
