it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have discovered that if I make learning fun, the students are so much more engaged. I am the only Spanish teacher at my school and I do not have a curriculum, books or a budget. I have created the Spanish program and because we started it during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no money for supplies. This is my 4th year teaching Spanish, and everything that we do is self-funded. I have created a fun, and engaging program, but it gets hard to do all that I want to with no budget. The students love to be creative as well as play games, sing songs and be verbal with their learning. The students learn by making Spanish vocabulary Bingo cards, drawing pictures, and doing small research projects to explore the Spanish culture. At the end of the week, we play games to review all that they have learned. The Spanish Scrabble games will be a great way to learn and review. When I hear the students using Spanish outside of my classroom, I know that they are excited about what they are learning! My goal this year is to continue to teach Spanish by allowing the students to be engaged through creativity and games.
